India to Field Six Boxers for Paris 2024

Wu Yu, the 52 kg weight division World Champion boxer from China, will face India's Nikhat Zareen in the round of 16 bout at the Paris Olympics 2024. Wu Yu, a strong medal contender, secured her Olympic quota by winning gold at the Asian Games 2023. Zareen, a two-time World Championships gold medallist, is jointly ranked World No. 6 with Wu Yu and aims for victory in the highly anticipated bout. Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain, a Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist, will compete in the women's 75kg category, having secured her Olympic spot with a silver at the Asian Games last year. India is fielding six boxers at Paris 2024, including notable names like Amit Panghal and Nishant Dev, aiming for podium finishes. The boxing events start on July 27, with the preliminary rounds held at Arena Paris Nord and medal rounds at Roland Garros Stadium.
