Two Dead in Connecticut Flooding Incident

Torrential rainfall in Connecticut over the weekend led to severe flash flooding, resulting in at least two fatalities and the evacuation of approximately 100 residents. The victims, identified as Ethelyn Joiner, 65, and Audrey Rostkowski, 71, were swept away by rising waters in Oxford while trapped in their cars. Heavy rains caused widespread destruction, with some areas receiving up to 10 inches, turning roads into impassable rivers and prompting warnings across the Northeast. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont described the storm as historic, emphasizing the state's commitment to assist affected towns. Rescue operations were initiated in response to the flooding, which also impacted parts of New Jersey and Long Island.
