Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso has been expelled from the Olympic Village after being deemed to create an 'inappropriate atmosphere' by the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, following her retirement announcement after failing to qualify in the women’s 100m butterfly event. Alonso, 20, reportedly distracted her teammates by socializing and wearing non-official attire, which led to complaints from officials. Upon her early departure, she was instructed to check into a hotel rather than stay in the Athletes' Village, a decision that reflects the committee's dissatisfaction with her behavior. During her time in Paris, she also visited Disneyland, further upsetting Olympic leadership who expected her to support her fellow athletes. Despite the controversy, Alonso expressed gratitude for her swimming career on social media. No official comment has been made by Alonso regarding her expulsion from the village.
