Cocaine seized in Eagle County
Recent drug enforcement operations have led to significant cocaine seizures in the U.S. On July 17, Colorado's Gore Range Narcotic Interdiction Team intercepted over 23 pounds of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 70, resulting in one arrest and a $100,000 bond for the driver. Meanwhile, on July 15, U.S. Border Patrol agents in California seized 92 pounds of cocaine, valued at over $1 million, from a concealed compartment in an SUV at an immigration checkpoint. The drug bust was facilitated by a K-9 unit that alerted agents to the presence of narcotics. Both incidents highlight ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the U.S., with CBP reporting substantial seizures throughout the fiscal year, including over 22,000 pounds of cocaine already confiscated at the U.S.-Mexico border. The drivers involved in these cases have been turned over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
