Pirates Defeat Reds 4-1 Behind Rookie Skenes' Domination
Rookie Paul Skenes led the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, pitching six strong innings with seven strikeouts and only one walk, improving his record to 4-0. Skenes has consistently reached 100 mph with his fastballs and has thrown the most 100 mph pitches in the league this season. Bryan Reynolds extended his hitting streak to 15 games, contributing with two doubles and an RBI, while Oneil Cruz drove in two runs. David Bednar secured his 15th save, maintaining a streak of 14 consecutive saves. The Pirates have now won three of their last four games, moving ahead of the Reds in the NL Central standings. Reds’ Elly De La Cruz had three hits and stole his major league-leading 37th base, but the team continued its struggle, losing five of their last seven games.
