White Sox Fire Manager Pedro Grifol, Name Interim
The Chicago White Sox have fired manager Pedro Grifol after a dismal 28-89 record this season, which included a 21-game losing streak that tied an American League record. Grady Sizemore, a former MLB All-Star and coach, has been named interim manager for the remainder of the 2024 season. Alongside Grifol, bench coach Charlie Montoyo, third base coach Eddie Rodriguez, and assistant hitting coach Mike Tosar were also dismissed. Replacements include Doug Sisson as bench coach, Justin Jirschele as third base coach, and Mike Gellinger as assistant hitting coach. The White Sox plan to hire a permanent manager after the season, with former player A.J. Pierzynski expressing interest in the role.
