Elderly Man Beaten on Train Over Meat Suspicion

A 72-year-old man, Haji Ashraf Munyar, was assaulted by co-passengers on a Mumbai-bound express train near Igatpuri in Maharashtra on suspicion of carrying beef, which turned out to be buffalo meat. The incident, which occurred on August 28, was captured on video and went viral, leading to fierce criticism and a police investigation. The Government Railway Police (GRP) identified several suspects and detained a few in Dhule for questioning, although no official case had been registered initially. The elderly man was convinced by the police to file a complaint, resulting in an FIR against the perpetrators. The attack has drawn widespread condemnation, with AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel calling for action against such incidents. The GRP is actively investigating the matter and ensuring justice for the victim.
