Bruno Labbadia Appointed Head Coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, effective immediately. NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi confirmed the decision early Tuesday, stating that Labbadia's appointment follows the recommendation of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee. Labbadia, who has a wealth of experience in coaching and played for several top German clubs, becomes the sixth German coach to lead the Super Eagles. His first challenge will be overseeing the team's upcoming matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. Prior to Labbadia's appointment, the Super Eagles had been without a coach since Finidi George's departure after the World Cup qualifiers. Despite earlier speculation regarding other candidates, including Swedish coach Janne Andersson, Labbadia's agreement with the NFF marks a new chapter for the team.
