Suspect in Tamil Nadu NCC Camp Rape Dies

Sivaraman, the prime suspect in the sexual assault case involving a school girl at a fake National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp in Tamil Nadu, died by suicide after consuming rat poison on August 19, shortly before his arrest. He had been hospitalized due to a leg fracture sustained while evading police capture, and his health deteriorated, leading to his transfer to another hospital where he passed away. Sivaraman was among 11 individuals arrested for orchestrating the unauthorized camp, where multiple girls were allegedly abused. The incident came to light when the victim reported the assault to her parents, prompting a police complaint. Authorities have also arrested school officials for failing to ensure proper supervision and conducting background checks for the camp. Concerns have arisen about possible cover-ups involving influential individuals, leading to demands for a thorough investigation into the deaths of Sivaraman and his father, who died shortly after.
