Joni Mitchell Releases Archives, Vol. 4
Joni Mitchell has announced the upcoming release of her archival collection, Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980), set to launch on October 4 via Rhino Records. This extensive 98-track compilation features demos, alternate versions, and live performances from a pivotal time in her career, including albums like Hejira, Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter, and Mingus. The collection will be available in multiple formats, including a 6-CD set and a 4-LP version that showcases Mitchell's personal favorites. Accompanying the release will be a 36-page book filled with unseen photos and a conversation between Mitchell and filmmaker Cameron Crowe, sharing anecdotes from this creative period. The lead single from the release, a live recording of “Coyote,” has already been shared, highlighting her innovative jazz-folk fusion style. Mitchell continues to gain recognition, having recently performed at the Grammys and is scheduled for two shows at The Hollywood Bowl in October.
