Indrani Mukerjea Allowed UK, Spain Travel on Bail

A special CBI court in Mumbai has permitted Indrani Mukerjea, accused in the 2012 murder of her daughter Sheena Bora, to travel to the UK and Spain for 10 days. The court cited her compliance with bail conditions and necessity to handle property and legal matters abroad. Mukerjea must report to the CBI before and after her travel, deposit a security of ₹2 lakh, and attend the Indian Embassy during her stay. This decision comes despite the CBI's concerns about her being a flight risk. Mukerjea, who was granted bail in May 2022, has been attending court regularly and adhering to all legal requirements. The court emphasized that her right to travel is valuable but not absolute, imposing strict conditions to ensure her return for trial.
