Schools Closed in India and Pakistan Due to Flooding
Heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding have led to the closure of numerous educational institutions across various regions in India and Pakistan. In Sindh, Pakistan, district administrations have declared holidays for schools, with some districts like Nawabshah and Jamshoro closing schools for the remainder of the week due to heavy monsoon downpours. Similarly, schools in Surat, Gujarat, were closed following severe waterlogging and flooding, with the Surat Municipal Corporation shutting down flood gates to manage the situation. In Patna, Bihar, 76 government schools have been closed until August 31 due to the rising water levels of the Ganga river, posing safety risks. Additionally, in Mizoram, schools in Aizawl and Kolasib have been shut for three days due to landslides caused by heavy rain.
