Israel Evacuates Khan Younis Over Hamas Intel
Thousands of residents from Khan Younis in southern Gaza have been forced to flee following new evacuation orders from the Israeli military, which cited 'precise intelligence' of Hamas militants operating in the area. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had previously designated parts of Khan Younis as humanitarian zones, but these areas have increasingly become dangerous due to ongoing rocket attacks and military strikes. Over 75,000 people have been displaced in recent days, many finding overcrowded shelters or makeshift camps. Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, highlighted the severe displacement crisis, noting that people are left with nowhere to go. Efforts by the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar to revive ceasefire negotiations are ongoing, with talks scheduled for August 15. The IDF's latest operations follow a deadly airstrike on a school-turned-shelter in northern Gaza, which killed at least 80 Palestinians.
