Water level in Mettur dam
Water discharge from major dams across India has seen a significant reduction following improvements in weather conditions and decreased rainfall. The inflow into Mettur Dam decreased from 74,662 cusecs on Sunday to 50,000 cusecs by Monday afternoon, with the discharge into the River Cauvery also reduced from 70,000 to 50,000 cusecs (The Hindu, OneIndia). In Kolkata, the Damodar Valley Corporation reported a sharp drop in water discharge from 1.2 lakh cusecs to 49,000 cusecs due to better weather and rainfall management (Deccan Herald). Similarly, in Pune, Nashik, and Kolhapur, water discharges from dams have been reduced significantly, allowing roads previously closed due to flooding to reopen (Times of India). Despite these reductions, authorities remain vigilant and continue to monitor the situation closely (Times of India).
