King Charles Ends Prince Andrew's Security Funding
King Charles III has decided not to renew the contracts of the ten-man private security team stationed at Prince Andrew's residence, the Royal Lodge in Windsor, effective from October. This move has intensified speculation that the Duke of York, who has lived at the 31-room estate since 2004 under a 75-year lease, may be forced to vacate the property. Prince Andrew's security costs, previously funded by King Charles since Andrew lost his police protection in 2022, are estimated to be around $4 million annually. The decision follows Andrew's refusal to move to the smaller Frogmore Cottage, previously occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Prince Andrew, who has faced significant public and financial fallout due to his association with Jeffrey Epstein, has also been criticized for failing to maintain the property, which requires $503,000 annually for upkeep. Despite the strained relations between the brothers, Andrew was invited to join the royal family at Balmoral this summer.
