Lydia Ko Wins 2024 AIG Women's Open
Lydia Ko secured her third major title and first in eight years by winning the AIG Women's Open at St Andrews, capping off a triumphant summer that also saw her win Olympic gold in Paris. Ko delivered a dramatic final round, closing with a birdie on the 18th to finish at seven under par, two strokes ahead of Lilia Vu, Nelly Korda, Ruoning Yin, and Jiyai Shin. Vu had a chance to force a playoff but missed her birdie putt, ultimately bogeying the hole. Korda, who led at one point, faltered with a double bogey on the 14th and a bogey on the 17th. The win also earned Ko a $1.425 million prize, the highest in the event’s history. England’s Lottie Woad won the Smyth Salver as the leading amateur.
