Allen Morgan, 74, was sentenced to life in prison for conspiring to murder his wife, Carol Morgan, who was brutally killed in 1981. The court heard that Allen hired a hitman while having an affair, using a trip to the cinema with his stepchildren as an alibi for the murder. Carol was found hacked to death in the shop they ran together, and the case remained unsolved until it was reopened by detectives in 2018. Justice Martin Spencer described the murder as a particularly brutal act and stated that only Morgan knows the identity of the hitman. His current wife, Margaret Morgan, was acquitted of the conspiracy charge despite being implicated. The verdict has left their children grappling with the betrayal of their father's role in their mother's death.
