Nevada Man Indicted for Threats Against Officials
Spencer Christjencody Gear, a 32-year-old Las Vegas man, has been indicted on 22 federal counts for making death threats against state and federal officials, including those involved in former President Donald Trump's legal cases. Gear allegedly made threatening phone calls and sent emails to officials in New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., and Montana from November 2023 to July 2024. Among the targets were Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Judge Juan Merchan, who oversaw Trump's criminal hush money trial. Gear pleaded not guilty and remains in federal custody, with his trial scheduled for September 24. The Department of Justice emphasized zero tolerance for violence against public servants, and Gear could face decades in prison if convicted.
