Army Captain Killed in Doda Encounter

An Indian Army Captain was killed during a military operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district while engaging with a group of four terrorists. The encounter, which began the previous evening in Udhampur, continued into Wednesday morning in a densely forested area near Shivgarh-Assar, leading to the Captain suffering fatal gunshot injuries. Security forces recovered four blood-soaked rucksacks and M-4 carbines from the scene, indicating a significant clash as the terrorists reportedly crossed into Doda from Udhampur. A civilian was also injured during the operation, which coincides with heightened security measures ahead of India's Independence Day. The operation was initiated after intelligence reports suggested the terrorists' hideout in the region. Authorities are continuing efforts to capture the remaining militants, with one reported to be wounded.
