Western Kentucky's rally was spearheaded by third-string quarterback Caden Veltkamp, who threw for 385 yards and five touchdowns after entering the game in the first half. Redshirt freshman Turner Helton, in his first start at quarterback, turned the ball over four times in the first half. Old Dominion missed three field goals, two of which were blocked, including one that would have iced the game in the fourth quarter.
