Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing the healthcare industry by offering solutions that enhance patient care, streamline administrative processes, and improve decision-making. AI's ability to analyze vast amounts of data quickly and accurately aids in early disease detection, personalized treatment plans, and efficient resource management in hospitals. However, challenges such as maintaining data privacy and the need for substantial investments in technology persist. A recent study highlighted that while AI can outperform doctors in certain diagnostic tasks, it struggles with explaining its reasoning, emphasizing the importance of human oversight. To further integrate AI into healthcare, UT Health San Antonio and UTSA have introduced a dual degree program combining Medicine and AI, aiming to train future physicians in leveraging AI technology effectively.
