Missing Arizona Woman Found Dead in Grand Canyon
Chenoa Nickerson, 33, from Gilbert, Arizona, was found dead on Sunday after being swept away by a flash flood in Havasu Canyon on August 22. Nickerson, who was hiking with her husband, was swept into Havasu Creek and later discovered near Mile 176 on the Colorado River by a commercial river trip. The National Park Service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner are investigating her death. The flash flood led to the evacuation of over 100 people and has prompted the Havasupai Tribal Council to close Havasupai Falls indefinitely. Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs activated the National Guard to assist with rescue operations.
