Pfeiffer Georgi Withdraws After Tour Crash
British cyclist Pfeiffer Georgi suffered neck fractures and a broken hand in a severe crash during stage five of the Tour de France Femmes, forcing her to abandon the race. The incident occurred with 6.3 km remaining and also impacted defending champion Demi Vollering, who fell but managed to finish. Georgi, 23, will take a minimum of four weeks off to recover but does not require surgery, according to her team DSM-Firmenich PostNL. The team expressed sorrow over her loss, emphasizing her importance both on and off the bike. Meanwhile, Blanka Vas of Hungary won the stage, and Poland's Kasia Niewiadoma took the overall lead after Vollering's fall. Niewiadoma leads the standings by 19 seconds ahead of Kristen Faulkner going into stage six.
