Despite his serious injuries, McKellen expressed gratitude for the fat suit he wore for the role, stating it cushioned his body and prevented more severe harm. Now recovering at home, he faces anxiety about going out due to fear of being bumped into, questioning if he is 'too old to act.' However, he remains hopeful, noting that he has not given up on his career and plans to support his colleagues from the audience.
