In a meeting with Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Reddy outlined the government's commitment to connect all Gram Panchayats, Mandals, and Districts through optical fiber. The project plans to deliver services to 63 lakh rural households and 30 lakh urban households, along with cable TV and e-education services, while also extending connectivity to 65,500 government institutions. The state has already mobilized Rs 530 crore for the project, which has an estimated total cost of Rs 1,779 crore. Reddy emphasized the importance of the timely provision of the National Optical Fiber Network infrastructure to facilitate the project’s implementation. Additionally, he urged the Minister to approve the conversion of the NOFN Phase-I network to BharatNet Phase-III architecture.
