The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted extensive searches across multiple states, focusing on two major investigations: the revival of the banned CPI (Maoist) organization and an espionage racket linked to Pakistan. In efforts to curb CPI (Maoist) activities, the NIA raided nine locations in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, seizing digital devices and SIM cards, and uncovering financial support from the Eastern Regional Bureau aimed at recruiting and spreading Naxal ideology. Concurrently, the NIA investigated a Pakistani espionage racket by searching 16 locations across Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana, confiscating mobile phones and sensitive documents. The espionage case involves the leakage of classified defense information, with several arrests and charges filed against suspects, including absconding Pakistani nationals. Farmer groups condemned the raids as intimidation, reflecting the broader social tensions surrounding these operations.
