Sultan Ibrahim Installed as Malaysia's 17th King

The installation of Sultan Ibrahim as the 17th King of Malaysia was held at Istana Negara on July 20, showcasing the nation's unique Constitutional Monarchy system. The grand ceremony, attended by foreign dignitaries including the Sultan of Brunei, symbolized the sovereignty and tradition of the Malay Rulers. Malaysians across the country experienced the event through 'wayang pacak,' outdoor screenings organized in all 222 parliamentary constituencies. The event emphasized national unity and the King's role in maintaining governance balance as per Article 40 of the Federal Constitution. The rotational monarchy system, overseen by the Conference of Rulers, continues to be a distinctive feature of Malaysia since its independence in 1957.
