FEMA Opens Disaster Recovery Center in Mankato
FEMA has opened Disaster Recovery Centers in Mankato and Virginia, Minnesota, to assist residents and businesses affected by severe storms and flooding that occurred from June 16 to July 4. The centers, operating seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., provide in-person help from FEMA, state officials, and the U.S. Small Business Administration for applying for federal disaster assistance. Survivors can get guidance on documenting damage and accessing additional resources, and assistance is available in multiple languages. There are also centers in other impacted areas, with the application deadline for assistance set for September 27. Those unable to visit a center can apply online or via the FEMA Helpline. The flooding significantly impacted southern Minnesota, damaging homes and infrastructure, including the historic Rapidan Dam.
