Prime Minister Narendra Modi will award certificates to 11 lakh 'Lakhpati Didis' in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, on August 25, 2024, recognizing women who earn Rs 1 lakh or more annually. This event will also see the launch of a Rs 2500 crore Community Investment Fund aimed at benefiting approximately 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs), along with a bank loan of Rs 5000 crore for 25.8 lakh SHG members. The initiative aims to create 3 crore Lakhpati Didis in the next three years, building on the success of 1 crore already established. The program is expected to reach participants from around 30,000 locations across 34 states and Union Territories virtually. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the role of trained Community Resource Persons in empowering SHG families through business planning and financing skills. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance women's economic independence and combat poverty in rural areas.
