Director Lee Isaac Chung Revives 'Twisters' Franchise

Director Lee Isaac Chung's film 'Twisters' is a new story set in the same universe as the original 'Twister' but without direct character crossovers. The sequel focuses on new characters, including Kate Carter played by Daisy Edgar-Jones, a meteorologist drawn back to storm chasing in Oklahoma. Chung chose to create a fresh narrative rather than continuing with established characters from the previous film. Despite the lack of direct consultation with original cast members such as Helen Hunt, Chung embraced the opportunity to work on a big-budget production with advanced visual effects, drawing on his experience with 'Minari.' The film, featuring modern storm chasing elements and romance, pays homage to the 1996 blockbuster while introducing new technology and characters.
