Search for Indian Tourist in Sinkhole Ends

Vijaya Lakshmi Gali, a 48-year-old tourist from India, tragically disappeared after falling into an 8-meter-deep sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur on August 23. Despite extensive search efforts using sniffer dogs, scuba units, and high-pressure water jets, the search was called off after nine days due to extremely challenging conditions and safety concerns. Her family, who performed Hindu rituals at the site, returned to India following the official termination of the search. Malaysian authorities cited strong underground currents, debris, and the appearance of a second sinkhole as primary reasons for halting the rescue operation.
