Six Dead in Wakefield-Barnsley Collision
A devastating crash on the A61 between Barnsley and Wakefield on Sunday afternoon resulted in the deaths of six people, including two children. The collision involved a Ford Focus and a motorbike, with all occupants—four from the car and two from the motorbike—pronounced dead at the scene. The victims included a man, a woman, a boy, and a girl in the car, and a male motorcyclist and a female pillion passenger. Superintendent Alan Travis of Wakefield District Police described the incident as 'absolutely tragic' and extended condolences to the families of the victims. The road has been closed for investigation, and authorities are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the surviving daughter of the couple in the car, raising over £8,000 so far.
