President Droupadi Murmu
President Droupadi Murmu of India began a historic six-day diplomatic mission to Fiji, New Zealand, and Timor-Leste, marking the first visit by an Indian head of state to both Fiji and Timor-Leste. In Fiji, from August 5-7, she will hold bilateral meetings with President Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, address the Fijian Parliament, and engage with the local Indian diaspora. Her next stop is New Zealand on August 8-9, where she will meet with Governor-General Cindy Kiro and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and speak at an education conference. The tour will conclude in Timor-Leste on August 10, with meetings scheduled with President José Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Kay Rala 'Xanana' Gusmão. This visit aims to bolster India’s diplomatic ties with Pacific nations and advance its Act East Policy.
