A tragic accident in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning resulted in the death of one school student and injuries to at least 15 others when a pickup van lost control and collided with a parked truck. District Magistrate Praveen Kumar reported that the victims, aged 12 to 17, were from Nagaji Saraswati Vidya Mandir Maldepur and were on their way to school. One student died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital. The condition of three to four students remains critical, with some being referred to a hospital in Varanasi for advanced care. Local police have initiated an investigation, and witness accounts suggest the students boarded the pickup van despite the driver's protests.
