The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has formally requested the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct an inspection of the Ratna Bhandar, the temple's treasury, utilizing advanced technology such as laser scanning and GPRS. This request follows the recent relocation of empty almirahs and chests from the treasury, which has raised concerns about potential secret tunnels or chambers within. SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee emphasized the importance of engaging specialized institutions like IIT or CBRI for the inspection to ensure the temple's structure remains unharmed. The inspection will pave the way for necessary conservation and repair work once completed. Additionally, the SJTA has documented the entire process of moving the treasure containers, which includes relocating valuable items to temporary strong rooms. The management aims to ensure accurate inventory and restoration of the treasures back to the Ratna Bhandar after the inspection.
