Vadivelu Sues Singamuthu for Defamation

Tamil actor Vadivelu has filed a ₹5 crore defamation lawsuit against fellow actor Singamuthu in the Madras High Court, alleging that Singamuthu made false and derogatory statements about him during interviews on YouTube. The court has admitted the case and instructed Singamuthu to respond, while Vadivelu seeks a permanent injunction to prevent further defamatory remarks. Vadivelu claims that these statements have caused him significant mental distress and have tarnished his public image, exacerbated by Singamuthu's assertion of free speech in defense of his comments. The conflict between the two actors has garnered attention, particularly since they have previously collaborated on numerous films. Vadivelu, a prominent figure in Tamil cinema since 1991, argues that Singamuthu's statements amount to character assassination. He had previously issued legal notices demanding retractions, with only the YouTube channels complying, prompting this formal legal action.
