Owens, who last played in the NFL in 2010 and was 48 at the time, reached out through intermediaries like Randy Moss, proposing to play on third downs and in red zone situations. Despite maintaining good physical condition and his illustrious career as a wide receiver, Owens did not receive a response from Brady, which he interpreted as a lack of respect. The Buccaneers, missing a significant receiver, were ultimately eliminated in the Divisional Round of the playoffs that year.
