Lyon Signs USMNT Midfielder Tanner Tessmann

Olympique Lyonnais has officially signed U.S. midfielder Tanner Tessmann from Venezia on a five-year contract lasting until June 30, 2029, marking him as the first American player in the club's history. The transfer fee is reported to be around €7 million ($7.8 million), as Lyon seeks to improve after starting the season with two losses. Tessmann, 22, had a significant role in Venezia's recent promotion back to Serie A, contributing seven goals and three assists in the 2023-24 season. He has made two appearances for the U.S. men's national team and showcased his skills at the Olympics this summer. Tessmann was also courted by several other clubs, including Fiorentina and Torino, but chose Lyon for the opportunity to secure first-team playtime.
