Giants and Guardians Make Big Trade Moves
The San Francisco Giants made notable moves at the trade deadline, acquiring veteran outfielder Mark Canha from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for pitcher Eric Silva, and sending pitcher Alex Cobb to the Cleveland Guardians for prospects including Jacob Bresnahan. Canha, though struggling this season, is expected to bolster the Giants' outfield as they push for the playoffs. Cobb, recovering from hip surgery, reunites with former teammate and current Guardians manager Stephen Vogt. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians also acquired outfielder Lane Thomas from the Washington Nationals for three prospects. The Detroit Tigers are also expected to trade pitcher Jack Flaherty, with several contenders showing interest.
