Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders are demanding the Congress government to start pumping water from the Kannepally pump house of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project by August 2, threatening to mobilize 50,000 farmers to take action if the deadline is not met. BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao accused the Congress government of criminal negligence and political vendetta, arguing that sufficient water is currently available but not being utilized to benefit farmers. He emphasized the importance of the Kaleshwaram project in making Telangana drought-proof and criticized the Congress for delaying necessary water pumping, which could provide much-needed resources for irrigation and drinking water. Rama Rao highlighted the disparity in water levels at key reservoirs compared to previous years and asserted that activating the pumps could fill them significantly. The BRS delegation inspected the pump house and expressed frustration over the government's inaction, insisting that it is jeopardizing farmers' welfare for political gain. The BRS plans to raise this issue during legislative sessions to push for immediate action.
