Elly De La Cruz Named 2024 NL All-Star

Cincinnati Reds' shortstop Elly De La Cruz has been named to the 2024 National League All-Star team, marking his first All-Star appearance and making him the youngest Reds All-Star since Johnny Bench in 1969. De La Cruz leads Major League Baseball with 43 stolen bases and tops all National League shortstops in runs and triples. Despite outstanding performance metrics, including a leading fWAR among NL shortstops, he will not be starting the game. The 22-year-old has declined participation in the Home Run Derby for the second consecutive year. This marks the third straight year that a Reds player has made the All-Star team. The All-Star Game will be held on July 16 in Arlington, Texas.
