Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport has announced a record investment of €6 billion ($6.65 billion) by 2029, making it the largest investment plan in the airport's history. This plan builds upon a previously established €3 billion investment scheduled from 2024 to 2027, aimed at extensive renewal and maintenance of the airport's infrastructure. Schiphol CEO Pieter van Oord emphasized the need for improved infrastructure to enhance passenger quality and experience. For 2024, the airport anticipates handling between 65 and 68 million passengers and managing 470,000 to 473,000 flights. Despite initial government efforts to cap flights to reduce noise, industry and EU objections led to a revised capacity of 483,000 flights this year. The investment reflects Schiphol's commitment to addressing passenger satisfaction and operational efficacy.
