Woman Stabbed at Newark Liberty Airport

Melissa Mauldin, a woman visiting from North Carolina, was attacked with a knife by Jin Xiong, a 54-year-old homeless man, at Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal A on Sunday around 5 p.m. Port Authority police witnessed the attack, quickly arrested Xiong, and recovered the knife. Mauldin sustained non-life-threatening injuries, including a gash on the right side of her face that required 14 stitches, and fractures to her nose and cheekbone. Xiong has been charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon and is being held in Essex County Jail. Mauldin was en route home after attending a friend's wedding in Hoboken when the seemingly random attack occurred.
