Mother Pleads Guilty to Manslaughter of Daughter

Jaskirat Kaur has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her 10-year-old daughter, Shay Kang, on the basis of diminished responsibility. Shay was discovered dead in their Rowley Regis home on March 4, with multiple stab wounds to her chest. Kaur, 33, denied the charge of murder, which the prosecution accepted, as there was 'no dispute over the facts' of the case. During the court appearance, Kaur attended via video-link and was instructed by Judge Michael Chambers to appear in person for sentencing on October 25. Shay's school, Brickhouse Primary, described her as a 'bright, happy, fun-loving child who was well liked by all', highlighting the community's grief. Floral tributes have been left in Shay's memory at the site of her death.
