Waymo Launches 24/7 Robo-Taxi at Phoenix Airport

Waymo has announced the launch of 24/7 curbside pickups and drop-offs at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport's Terminals 3 and 4, marking a significant expansion of its autonomous taxi services. This service, which began on a limited basis in December 2022, has already provided nearly 100,000 rides. Initially, Waymo offered only nighttime curbside service and stops at less congested Sky Train stations, but now it aims to serve all airport travelers at any time. The expansion demonstrates Waymo's commitment to growing its service area, which now spans 315 square miles, including parts of Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, and even tribal land. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego praised the collaboration with Sky Harbor, highlighting the airport as the first in the nation to offer such comprehensive autonomous services.
