In Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli district, three children died and several others were hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning at an orphanage run by a Christian church. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has launched a high-level investigation and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased. IT Minister Nara Lokesh confirmed the deaths of Joshua, Bhavani, and Shraddha and assured better treatment for the 17 affected students. The incident has prompted a call for stringent action against those responsible. This tragedy aligns with similar recent incidents of food poisoning affecting children in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, with numerous students falling ill after consuming contaminated food items at schools.
