Labour Set for Historic Election Win
The UK's opposition Labour Party, led by Keir Starmer, is poised for a historic landslide victory in the general election, ending 14 years of Conservative rule. Exit polls and surveys forecast Labour winning a majority of up to 212 seats, with Starmer expected to become the next Prime Minister. This result would surpass Tony Blair's 1997 victory and be the largest for any party since 1832. The Conservatives, led by Rishi Sunak, are predicted to suffer their worst defeat in post-war history, potentially losing key seats and senior ministers. Voter dissatisfaction with Conservative management of the economy and public services has fueled Labour's lead. Official results are expected early Friday as votes from the 650 constituencies are counted overnight.
