Four Dead in Albuquerque Shooting Incident

A mass shooting occurred late Saturday night at the Valley Apartments in northwest Albuquerque, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving one woman hospitalized. The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) confirmed that a man in his early 20s is believed to have shot three others—a man and woman in their mid-20s, and another man in his 50s—before dying by suicide. Witnesses reported that the victims knew each other and had been drinking at the apartment complex prior to the confrontation that led to the shooting. Authorities briefly detained a person who fled the scene but later released him as he was not involved. The shooting is being investigated as a possible triple-murder, contributing to a notably violent month in Albuquerque, which recorded 22 homicides in August 2024.
