Military Odyssey Festival Celebrates Wartime History

This August, the Kent Event Centre will host the Military Odyssey festival, featuring over 150 re-enactors and 1,800 vehicles, celebrating 2,000 years of wartime history through battles, costumes, and memorabilia. The event, scheduled for August 24-26, also includes vintage vehicle displays and a variety of entertainment options like swing dancing and wartime sing-alongs, with tickets starting at £20. Meanwhile, jousting, Maryland's official state sport, has evolved from its medieval roots into a popular competition at county fairs, showcasing a unique blend of history and community spirit. In South Africa, the SA Rogue Squadron will demonstrate medieval combat techniques at the Fort Nottingham Highland Gathering, while Armoured Combat Gloucester promotes full-contact medieval combat as both a sport and an art form. Both events highlight the growing interest in medieval combat sports globally, emphasizing the importance of preserving and celebrating these historical practices.
