An 80-year-old man with dementia, Thomas Stone, was rescued by Sterling Heights police and their K-9 unit after he went missing in a wooded area for nearly two hours. Stone's wife, who noticed his absence through home cameras, alerted the police about his wandering. Despite the GPS tracker on Stone running out of power, the police, aided by K-9 officers and drones, successfully located him about three-quarters of a mile away, disoriented and with cuts on his hands. The quick and coordinated efforts of the police ensured Stone's safe return to his family, bringing relief to his wife Delores and highlighting the importance of such rescue operations in cases of dementia-related incidents.
